Tango - Buenos Aires Day 1 Brisbane - Buenos Aires
This complex, energetic, and seductive port city houses approximately one third of Argentina's population and has been the gateway to Argentina for centuries. Portenos, as the multinational people of Buenos Aires are known, possess an elaborate and rich cultural identity. The national dance, the tango, is perhaps the best expression of the Argentinian spirit - practiced in dance halls, parks, open plazas, and ballrooms, it is a dance of intimate separation and common rhythm, combining both an elegant reserve and an exuberant passion.

Dancing in Rio de Janeiro Day 2 Buenos Aires - Rio de Janeiro
Located between fabulous beaches and an exquisite bay on one side, and a dramatically steep mountain range on the other, Rio de Janeiro is one of the world's most beautiful cities. The locals' pet name for their colourful home is "Cidade Maravilhosa" (Marvelous City). Discovered in 1502 by the Portuguese, Rio became the capital of Brazil in 1822, a title that was transferred to Brasilia in 1960. Today, however, many argue that Rio remains Brazil's emotional capital - its heart, and its soul. From the trendy bars that invented the "lambada" to the enormous celebration of samba during Carnival - Rio is a sensual feast.

The Samba Parade began rather timidly in the 1930s. On March 2, 1984 the Sambodrome was inaugurated as the Parade's permanent home. Today the "greatest show on earth" is broadcast to dozens of countries, and all Brazilian states. Carnival Sunday is seven weeks before Easter Sunday.
